Please join us in May 2010 for this
exceptional learning experience. The Tour is open to undergraduate students
on a credit basis, business executives, alumni, or individuals wanting to
combine travel with the study of international marketing.
The 2010 Tour includes visits and
interaction with key executives from leading global organizations, exploring
such marketing functions as product development, channels of distribution,
pricing issues, advertising, promotions, e-Marketing, etc. Some of the
companies we plan to visit are: 3M, Coca-Cola, DDB Europe, France Telecom,
General Electric, IBM, IPD Group, Korn/Ferry International, Legg Mason,
Reissdorf Brewery, and Sogeti (or equivalent substitutions).
Participants will develop a better
understanding of the global business environment: its dimensions, trends,
and opportunities. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to
experience the heritage, ambience, and excitement of four of the world's
most beautiful and interesting cities.

Dr.
Lawrence E. Burgee,
Associate Professor & European Study Tour Leader, Brown School of
Business and Leadership, will lead the Study Tour and
teach MKT/INBUS 325 International Marketing. Dr. Burgee has a deep interest
and extensive experience in this area. While at Loyola University Maryland,
he coordinated, attended, and guided
six
consecutive annual European Study Tours. He developed marketing strategies,
established relationships with high-level European executives, and arranged
for group visits to more than 75 companies
across Europe. He also taught
International Marketing nine times at the undergraduate and graduate levels
at Loyola. While at Towson University, Dr. Burgee taught in Poland and
Panama. He earned an MBA in International Business from Loyola University
Maryland and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from University of Maryland
Baltimore County. Dr. Burgee is also the Department Chair for the Department
of Information Systems at Stevenson.
Dr. Deborah Leather, Professor &
Department Chair - Business Administration, Brown School of
Business and Leadership, will also attend the Study Tour.
Dr. Leather
will be offering a limited number of Independent Studies in International
Management that may be earned in conjunction with the Study Tour. Dr.
Leather holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from The George
Washington University. She also has an MBA from Marymount University, an MLS
from the University of Hawaii, and a BA in history from the College of St.
Elizabeth. She has taught management, organizational behavior,
organizational theory, leadership, applied research, staffing, HR, and labor
relations courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Leather has
written articles on personnel and on building planning issues pertaining to
academic buildings and libraries. She is listed in Who's Who of Business and
Professional Women.

Course Requirements
The Study Tour will qualify for three
credits for
MKT 325/INBUS 325 International Marketing. This course examines the
economic, cultural, political, and technological factors that affect the
marketing of goods, services, and experiences worldwide.
Dr.
Lawrence E. Burgee will be
the professor for the course.
MKT 206
Principles of Marketing is the prerequisite for this course and MUST be
completed prior to attending the Study Tour (no exceptions).
Students registering for the International Marketing
course will be required to attend all pre-trip classes, attend and participate
in all company visits during the Study Tour, complete
a business and cultural
observations log (journal), submit a
project or paper on a
selected international marketing topic, and complete all assignments. Please note that part of the pre-Tour aspect of the
course is Web-based (using Blackboard) and involves research assignments to
be completed by Tour participants and turned in during the pre-trip classes.

As a special option, Dr. Deborah Leather is offering a
limited number of MGT 350 Independent Study in International Management
opportunities that may
be earned in conjunction with the Study Tour. The requirements for this
course are different than those listed above. You may contact Dr. Leather at

Please note: It is not possible to complete both the
International Marketing course and the Independent Study in International
Management. The Study Tour may count for only one course.
Expenses
The fee of $3,999 includes all
travel, accommodations, and tuition, specifically:
- Tuition for three undergraduate
credits.
- All airfare, overland
transportation, and transfers.
- Quality double accommodations
with private bath at the hotels listed, including breakfast daily.
Please note:
- A limited number of non-students may attend at a $400 discount.
- Students must purchase the textbook in advance of the first pre-trip
class on April 9.
- Students must have and maintain (through the Spring Semester) a 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
- The price is subject to currency
fluctuations and fuel surcharges; all efforts will be taken to protect
the current price.
- Equivalent substitutions may be
made for company visits, hotels, and travel.
- Expenses for passports (and
visas for non-U.S. passport holders) are the participant's
responsibility.
- All participants must have health insurance with
coverage in the countries to be visited.
- As permitted by British Airways, up to
10% of the participants may request a change to the return flight
destination and/or date. These changes will be
subject to a minimum $100-150 surcharge and must be reserved by January
10, 2010.

How To
Apply
The size of the Study Tour group is
limited to approximately 20 participants; individual places will be reserved
in the order in which both completed applications and deposits are received.
Applications
are subject to the approval of the European Study Tour Leader, with priority
given to current Stevenson University undergraduate students.

Application Requirements
To secure reservations and to
protect current rates, the following deadlines and conditions apply:
- Positions will be reserved only
upon receipt of both a completed
application and $500 security deposit. Reservations will be accepted
starting Monday, November 23, 2009.
- A photocopy of passport picture
page (clearly showing full name and passport number) must be submitted
by February 12, 2010. This should be mailed to the address shown in the
application or scanned and e-mailed to the European Study Tour Leader.
- Cancellations after January 10,
2010, will result in the forfeiture of the $500 deposit.
- The balance is due in full by
February 12, 2010.
- Cancellations after February 12,
2010, will result in a 50% forfeiture of the fee;
after March 5, 2010,
a 100% forfeiture of the fee.
