Stevenson University has been
recognized as one of America’s “Top
Up-and-Coming Schools” and “Great
Schools, Great Prices” in U. S. News & World Report’snewly released 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.” Stevenson also climbed to
No. 11 (from No. 15 in 2009) among the “Best
Baccalaureate Colleges-North Region” rankings, its highest ranking ever.
“Stevenson has seen
tremendous growth and change over the last decade, and these rankings reinforce
our successes in transitioning to a university model,” says Kevin J. Manning, Ph.D., President of
Stevenson University. “The rankings also reflect the hard work of our faculty
and staff, as well as recognition by our peers for the innovative approaches
that have made us a national leader in career education.”
This is the second year that Stevenson has made the “Top
Up-and-Coming Schools” list—one of only 77 colleges and universities given this
designation. The category recognizes institutions that “have recently made
striking improvements or innovations” in areas such as academic
programs, faculty, students, or facilities. During the past six years,
Stevenson has significantly increased enrollment while developing a second
campus in Owings Mills. More than 1,300 students—the largest resident
population in the school’s history—now live on the 80-acre site. The University
recently opened the Brown School of Business and Leadership on its Owings Mills
campus and is now constructing a new 60,000-square-foot gymnasium on the site. Stevenson also ranked No. 8 in the “Great Schools, Great
Prices” category for Baccalaureate Colleges-North Region. The category
recognizes institutions that are “best values,” providing high quality academic
programs at a lower cost. This is the University’s third year in this special
ranking.
