Stevenson University has hired Brenda Balzer as Vice President of Human Resources. Previously Director of Human Resources at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., Balzer began work at Stevenson U. on Dec. 3.

“Brenda brings the significant breadth of experience our growing University demands,” says Stevenson U. President Kevin J. Manning, Ph.D. “She will provide the leadership, expertise, and perspective needed for our employees, as we expand to serve our students and the community.”

“I am enthused about joining Stevenson U. and working with faculty and staff to become the employer of choice,” says Brenda. “I am looking forward to joining the HR team and working on programs and initiatives that will support the SU mission and goals.”

At Wake Forest, Balzer was charged with directing all HR activities for the institution and its affiliate, the Reynolda House Museum of American Art. She worked previously at Colorado College, Colorado National Bankshares, Inc., and Pikes Peak Mental Health Center – all in human resources functions.

Balzer earned her bachelor’s in psychology, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Hawaii. She is a member of numerous professional groups and boards such as the Society for Human Resource Management, where she is a national member, the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, and World at Work.

Balzer is a resident of Owings Mills.
