Villa Julie College Plans Winter Commencement Exercises

Villa Julie College will hold its Winter Commencement Exercise on Monday, December 18, 2006, at 4 p.m. About 100 of the approximately 115 December 2006 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony to be held in the College's gymnasium. The College will host a reception for graduates, their families and guests in the Student Union before the ceremony. Villa Julie will confer Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in many areas of study. Villa Julie College President Kevin J. Manning, Ph.D., will address the graduates and their guests. Jeffrey Elliot, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, will give the commencement address. He was chosen for the Rose Dawson Excellence in Teaching Award last spring. Students, faculty and staff nominated Elliot, who was chosen by an awards panel for the honor, which is named after a former long-time dean at Villa Julie. Joyce K. Becker, Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, will give the invocation. Karen Welbourn, an adjunct faculty member, will sing the alma mater and national anthem.
