Health Professions Advising

Welcome to the Health Professions website. Information about the different health professions, application procedures, and interviewing tips are just a few of the resources that can be found here. Links to various internships, professional organizations, schools offering health professions programs, and volunteer opportunities are also listed.

Health Professions Advising is available to all Stevenson University students and alumni interested in pursuing a career in a health profession. The Health Professions Advisor is Dr. Lorie Lana. To make an appointment with Dr. Lana, stop by her office (KH 105B), leave a voicemail message (443-334-2511), or email her at llana@stevenson.edu. The major goal of Health Professions Advising is to provide guidance to students as they progress in the process of selecting a health career, choosing appropriate courses, obtaining experience in that field, and applying to schools. Informational sessions on topics such as how to be a competitive applicant and navigating the application process are held throughout the year. Admission representatives from various health professions programs visit the campus during the year.

Health Professions and Graduate Programs Resources Areas are located in the Science Seminar Room (SC 116). Copies of handouts and pamphlets about specific health professions, academic year timeline and clinical experience information are for students. Individual binders for each health profession and graduate science programs contain school catalogs. Other resources such as information on standardized tests (MCAT, DAT, GRE and PCAT) and financing graduate education are available.

Health Professions Bulletin Boards are located in the Science Center hallway. Announcements about upcoming open houses, workshops and outside speakers from various health professions programs are posted. Summer opportunities for students to conduct research or participate in internships to gain exposure to a health profession are listed. Dates of standardized tests and a detailed timeline for the application cycle for health professions programs are outlined.
