Photography Request Guidelines and Form
The Office of Marketing and Public Relations helps coordinate photography for the campus--either internally or with external freelance photographers as determined by the office--primarily for the purpose of publicity and Stevenson's print publications. The office also coordinates photos for events of historical or social significance to the University.
As Stevenson University grows, photography requests are proliferating. Although we do not have professional photographers or the full resources and equipment of a professional photographer, we still endeavor to help with photo requests in several ways.
The following guidelines are intended to help you best determine your photography needs. Advance preparation is helpful to all.
- We can arrange the right type of professional freelance photographer for your event. Individual departments and organizations that require a large amount of photography and multiple-hour events (for example, award ceremonies) should budget themselves for freelance photography when planning their events. When budgeting for your event, anticipate spending $125-$150 per hour or more for the services of an outside photographer. You will need to give 3 to 4 weeks advance notice to schedule their services. The Office of Marketing and Public Relations can assist you by recommending freelancers, providing you with their contact information, or scheduling them for your event.
- We can schedule a student intern photographer to cover smaller events of a limited timeframe (one hour or under). We employee two student photo interns for a number of hours each week during the two semesters. Their availability is limited based on their schedules; weekends might be difficult. Advance planning is helpful.
- We can provide loaner digital cameras to departments or campus organizations. We have three loaner digital cameras. These cameras can be picked up at the Office of Marketing and Public Relations in Garrison Hall 245 (Owings Mills campus) or at the office of Diane DiSalvo, Art Wing Room 12 (Greenspring campus). They must be signed out by an SU employee of your department or organization and returned the day after your event. If you need photos that would be used for departmental, faculty, or campus organization’s blog (such as photos from a routine club gathering, small awards ceremony, campus project, etc.), we suggest that you request a simple-to-use loaner digital camera.
- For departments looking to update their official Stevenson University web pages with new photography such as staff or faculty photos, etc., please contact Brandon Seidl, Assistant Director for Web Management. He will arrange photography if it is being used as part of an update to an official page on the Stevenson University web site.
With any photography request, please give the Office of Marketing and Public Relations at least THREE WEEK'S NOTICE to allow us sufficient time to determine your needs and schedule an intern, freelancer, or loaner camera for you.
Use our convenient REQUEST FORM below to notify us. We will review the request and follow up with you quickly to determine the appropriate photographic services.
